The movie Spotlight is the story on the investigation of misconduct
in the catholic church. This was a prolonged issue that was covered up and
ignored for decades long. The uncovering of these prolonged issues uncovered
several global issues that shocked the world. This movie shows that what can be
near and dear to you can hurt you in the end. The investigators for Spotlight
each had their own tie to the catholic church which gave them a different view
on the catholic church scandal. We are taught to trust the church and what is
latter figured out is there’s hundreds of “trusted” people in the catholic church
molesting kids and adults. These corrupted priests attacked several boys who
seemed weak. This did not just effect the victims in the case it affected all
those followers of the Catholic Church. Imagine all you believe in being
corrupt and illogical that is what these many people went through.
The film Spotlight was one that I truly could not get very
hooked on at the beginning. It took a lot of attention and time to understand
the movie as a whole. The movie in all was well acted and produced but it was a
high level of intuition that many young kids would be incapable of
understanding. For these reasons I cannot say I enjoy the film very much. I
like to be able to sit down and watch a movie while relaxing my brain.
Obviously I was incapable of doing that at first.
I have been a catholic follower my whole life and this could
have caused a bias to my views on the issue of Spotlight. I see the catholic
church to be a good place where we have leaders who set good examples we can
follow and thrive on. Seeing the opposite unravel in the movie can make me perceive
the film in a different way than hoped.
